CURRENT PROJECTS by NAT GERTLER

Comics

The Panel Books

Panel One coverI've founded a new company, About Comics. 2002 saw the release of Panel One, a collection of comic book scripts by top writers, and the sequel (creatively entitled Panel Two, what a shock!) saw print in 2003.

Graphic Novels

Upcoming, I have The Proxy, a tale of Hollywood hijinx coming from Platinum Press, probably sometime in 2004. That year should also see the long-await humorous SF tale Steel Spandex and the multi-textured The Big Con coming from About Comics.

Other pieces

2003 will see a trade paperback collecting my miniseries The Factor, as well as a comics-format one-shot Licensable Bear&TM; coming from About Comics. I've got a number of other projects coming up as publisher, and for those you should check out the About Comics website.

Computer Writing

The Project series

I was asked to develop a series of project-based software tutorial books for Delmar publishing, so I created the Project series. The first seven books, (Project Photoshop, Project Flash, Project Illustrator, Project QuarkXPress, Project Photoshop 9, Project Flash MX and Project Dreamweaver were all written in 2001 and 2002, and are now all available.

Magazine Columns

I'm continuing to write my column "The Irregular Planet" for Hogan's Alley, a kinda-annual magazine of the cartoon arts. TIP is the magazine's comic book column. I also do crossword puzzles and Peanuts-related articles for them.

Performance

My public performing life has faded away. The last work I did as a movie "extra" as on Spider-Man. I have been taking classes with the L.A. improv group The Groundlings.

Web stuff

I've taken to handling some of the more advanced matters for e-Badge.com -- Perl programming, converting an NT-based site to a UNIX-based site, stuff like that. It lets me learn new stuff at someone else's expense.
